My English Dark Ale
Image Details

Description
This is my English dark ale. I used a bit less water than what was called for in the recipe to make it taste a little stronger, which also made it darker so it looks like a stout. It tastes awesome, nice bitter, kind of like hobgoblin... if you've had that, except it's more stout like. Anyway, success!!

Yeah that glass is pretty thin. I got it on one of my trips to Germany last year. The other glass is from a beer festival in Cambridge. I go to a few every year while I'm in England smile

Lovely looking beer!

Gee, I'm going to have to have sexy glasses to take pictures in. My Mom has some beer mugs, but the sides are textured a bit, so you can't see through them real well.

a chalice or goblet would be a nice change of pace. see if your local beer store has a Chimay or Duvel gift pack that you could treat yourself with. they basically throw in a nice glass for free (the sets range from $18-22 depending on your area)

required? certainly not! nice to have? definitely!

I highly recommend the duvel pack. I got 4 bottles of duvel and the tulip glass for $17 or so. Tulips work well for many styles, but especially with belgian styles which I love. the chimay glass is nice but really is only designed for chimay but I use it for my other tripels.

i "acquired" a couple nice hefeweizen glasses from the hofbrauhaus in pittsburgh... i got a few 1 litre and .5 litre dimple hofbrauhaus steins , as well. i've also "acquired" most of my pint glasses from my favorite restaurants and bars. but now, since my family knows how into beer i am, they know a nice pint glass or weizen glass is a nice stand-by gift for me... so i've got quite a nice collection now.

and, yes, the gift set route will work (espe if you want to try the beer included with the set), but i've noticed that most dollar tree's have a pretty decent selection of bar ware... a couple pilner/hefe glasses, a couple tulip glasses, pint glasses, mugs... all for a buck each.
