Description

This was my attempt to clone the Mr. B recipe "Nightshade Ale" which to this date is my favorite Mr. B recipe kit. Though saddly it has been discontinued. This was my first attempt at an all grain wheat stout.
Anyway, this tastes nothing like Mr. Bs Nightshade Ale. :P
But, it is quite delicious in its own right. It has a heavy boozy taste at first that gives way to deep dark and rich chocolate flavor and ends with the slightest hint of orange peel.
I think the only thing I would change next time is up some of the flaked ingredients to give it a slightly thicker mouthfeel.
It took awhile to condition because it was increeedibly boozy in the begining. But now it has the opening flavors of an Imperial Stout, and just melts into a delicious dark chocolate heaven that I never want to escape.
This pictures not the greatest, but you get this gist of it.

Indeed you can still create the kit from the available ingredients, and for anyone who is looking for a great Mr. B recipe I would recomend it in a second!
I think if I toned down this recipe a bit and added a bit less of everything and a bit more flaked items it would be pretty well on the head as a clone. But I really really enjoy how this turned out and will be brewing it again.

How do you find the recipes that they no longer sell as kits? I tried to search for "nightshade" and could not find it. Also looked through the recipe book and did not see it there either. LOL can you tell me the secret of finding the old recipes?

I've had better luck by upping the flaked quantities to get the really really thick rich mouthfeel. I'm thinking all probably mash those seperately this time though will a little bit of base grain.
On my last big stout I used waaaay too much flaked crap and it sucked up and held a lot of my mashed sugars, plus added a lot of extra room in the pot.
My efficiency was in the crapper on that one...but the taste and mouthfeel was out of this world.
