let it ferment out...crash cool it(overnight)....poor off the beer on the top then pour in some more starter wort to what you were going to make before...and chill it first this time...lol

I think I have grown it up enough to brew tommorow. I swirled
the original growler starter and poured some of it into a fresh
quart jar of cooled dme wort and repeated that process two more
times from jar to jar so I have 3 quart jars with about 1/4" of yeast/ trub in
the bottom. One I started this morning and is still fermenting
and the other two I just put in the fridge till tommorow. No
Idea how many yeast cells I have but probably way more than
the original smack pack.

I guess one wilson leads to another. Brewed and pitched wednesday
and this morning the airlock was spewing foam. You were right Jon
I needed a blowoff tube. So I had another clean 5g lid and pulled
the grommet out and inserted a 3/8 hose into a growler with star
san and quickly changed out the lids. The wet swamp had also
jumped to near 69-70 degrees overnight so I threw 3 ice bottles
in there. I think it's stable now at 63 in the swamp.

So what is the proper way to install one? I just stuck it through
the lid after I removed the airlock grommet. I don't do secondaries.
It fit really tight but I doubt it's an air tight seal.

i saw a clever blow off tube on HBT... you need a 3 piece airlock... not sure what diameter tubing it is...

then, just fill the airlock with water/vodka, put the bubbler in, and put the lid on once fermentation clams down.
