One of the guys at work is paying me to develop a clone of Yellow Snow. It's a seasonal and he's really jonesing. I told him that I couldn't get it 100% (they use Dare and Risk malts... and I'm not that good yet...lol), but I would try. Here's the info from their site: Tasting Notes: Pale golden in color with a hoppy fruity aroma. Big hop flavor up front complemented by medium body and hoppiness mid-pallet. Finishes with a characteristic lingering bitterness.
8 Ingredients: Cara Foam, Melanoidin & Rogue Micro Barley Farm Dare™ & Risk™ Malts; Amarillo & Rogue Micro Hopyard Revolution Hops, Free Range Coastal Water & Pacman Yeast.
Specs: 15º PLATO 70 IBU 76 AA 14º Lovibond
Here's my starting recipe:
Yellow Snow Clone ----------------- Brewer: Style: American IPA Batch: 5.00 galPartial Mash
Characteristics --------------- Recipe Gravity: 1.068 OG Recipe Bitterness: 74 IBU Recipe Color: 11° SRM Estimated FG: 1.017 Alcohol by Volume: 6.5% Alcohol by Weight: 5.1%
Ingredients ----------- Carafoam 0.50 lb, Grain, Mashed Light LME 7.00 lb, Extract, Extract Melanoidin 0.50 lb, Grain, Mashed Two-row (US) 2.00 lb, Grain, Mashed
Amarillo 1.00 oz, Pellet, 60 minutes Amarillo 1.00 oz, Pellet, 30 minutes Amarillo 1.00 oz, Pellet, 10 minutes Amarillo 2.00 oz, Pellet, 0 minutes Revolution 0.50 oz, Pellet, 60 minutes Revolution 0.50 oz, Pellet, 10 minutes Revolution 0.50 oz, Pellet, 30 minutes
Northwest Ale yeast 1.00 unit, Yeast, Recultured Pacman Yeast
Notes ----- Recipe Notes: Mash at 152°. Ferment at 60°.
I haven't had this beer in a while but I don't remember it being a 14 (that's why its only 11.) And the alcohol and IBU's are slightly high. Close enough to start with? Anyone have any suggestions that might help me out of the gate?
