Decided to take Jon's advice and make a yam based ale instead of using pumpkin. Ended up going with some Maris Otter for the base...looking forward to this one for sure. I've attached the BSMX file.

You may find you need to do an extra sparge to get to your boil volume...those yams really make the mash a sticky mess, and lautering takes forever!

But, the results are totally worth it! Good luck!

Good to know...I'll post some photos etc when it happens...Really looking forward to it...Any thoughts about a pumpkin ale to try though? To be honest, I've never had a pumpkin ale before so I have no frame of reference.

Shipyard's pumpkin beer is pretty decent, and i think it's more widely distributed.
