Will probably do a 90 minute mash. Mash at 152° for my first try and adjust next time if I need too. Ferment at ambient room temp 65° and see how high it goes and once again adjust next time.

Looks like it'llbe a good beer. How'd you come up with the recipe?

Borrowed from a few other recipes and changed where I thought necessary. I was going to use cultured yeast from a woody creek wit, but decided to go with the wlp550. I may try it next time.

Did a blind tasting and side by side with a few friends last night. As you can see it came out a little darker. The bitterness and flavor of mine were more intense also. Surprisingly the Raging Bitch had almost no aroma, this was another area were mine was more intense.
I thought with the darker look that mine would be noticeably sweeter, but it really wasn't. Could have been that it was, masked by the extra bitterness and flavor. I actually detected more of the Belgian yeast flavor in the blind tasting of mine then I prviously thought it had. My fermentation stayed below 70° (around 68°), I was hoping more for 72°. I'll try again in the summer when the ambient temps will be more suitable.
The more that we drank them side by side, the more the differences faded. It definately has a evry similar character, just more IPA-like. RB is a little more balanced. Not sure if I'll try to get it closer next time or keep it as-is and just try to get more yeast character/esters. Very tasty and very big hit. I have a friend coming over this week and RB is his favorite beer, we will see what he thinks.

Actual was 1.022...estimated was 1.019. Little warmer and I probably could have hit it. I tried a heating pad but it didn't do much. Never had to worry about warming a fermentation. This was my first Belgian and I do my Hefes when the house is warmer. May invest in a carboy heater down the road.

Missed my target mash temp by two degrees also. (154° instead of 152°). May lower it a bit next time. That may have made a difference.
