So I started to get some burn marks on the bottom of my pot. I didn't want to use anything too abrasive on them so I poured in enough vinegar to cover the bottom of the pan and poured in some hot water to double the volume. I let it sit a couple of minutes and went at it with a green scrubby pad. Rinsed it out and everything came up!! I didnt have to scrub that hard and it looks great now. Just wanted to pass this on to anyone else wanting to clean their pots.

White vinegar is one of the great natural cleaners.

In that application is vinegar safe for aluminum?

A quick google search shows vinegar and aluminum should be ok

Nice thing about White Vinegar is that it neutralizes
any soap, detergent residue. Used a White Vinegar rinse
back in the day in our fryers in restaurants after boiling them out, fryer cleaner kills the life of the oil. Vinegar rinse followed by water rinse, = sparkling clean fryers...same would go for a brew pot. Good tip cardinalsfan smile

Why couldnt you have told me that 6 or so years ago before I used the fryer cleaner and ended up flooding the kitchen with oil. It turns out that if you dont remove every last spec of fryer cleaner from a fryer it foams up like simmering wort coming to a boil, only its a lot more dangerous.

I used PBW on my brew pot it removed the scorch marks I thought would never come out.

Oh I haven't cleaned off my scorch marks for awhile. Last time I just used a bunch of elbow grease, I think I'll give this a shot.

I like PBW followed by a vinegar rinse if the PBW missed anything.

I object... I think scorch marks on the bottom of my SS Brew Pot are a badge of honor. It's what's in the pot and not what's on the outside wink
