So, I was searching all over the Mr. Beer website and to my avail, I have not been able to locate that spigot upgrade...did they do away with it? Anyone know where I can still find one?

they are redesigning the spigot and pulled it from the site earlier. they should have the new one up soon.

I did the spigot mod on one of mine and upgraded to the Italian spigot. Never looked back.

But I never mod'd the other LBK that I have.
They are great! But once you expand the hole with a drill you can never go back.

I asked Mr. Beer customer service the other day and they said they should have them by end of the month.

i did the italian spigot mod, as well, and love it... most LHBSs should have them for a buck or two.

If the new locking spigot is the one they had people test a while back, is pretty similar to the Italian spigot.

Did you have to hack your LBK for this one to fit too?
I can get this one at my LHBS but I'd rather not make adjustments.

I have a couple of those white ones that High_Iron posted and I
really like them better than the ones with the red or blue
nozzle. They are tougher and easier to clean. But, they do have
the larger threads so a LBK would have to be drilled.
I got mine from Rebel Brewer.

Thanks HatchetJack.
I was lucky with my other; I have a feeling if I were to mod the second one, I'd mangle the whole thing up. I'll pass.

I prefer the Italian Spigot than those white ones. They both do the same job, just preference. Like Coke/Pepsi.

Yes Bob, I opened the hole a bit with a dremmel. I did it to 3 LBK's with no problem. YMMV I now have them on all of my fermenters. 3 icing buckets and an Ale pale. Those I had to drill out. Still no problem. I have 6 spigots.

I have received the new spigots from Mr. Beer! It fits the keg very well. No leaks! They are definitely better than the push button model! I attached 3/8 inch tubing to it to use a bottling wand and tested with water. The tubing fits the barb but not too well! I would suggest a stainless hose clamp to hold it on better! It didn't work too well with the wand. Jacy suggested shorter hose which I will try next time. The spigot has a hole in the front of it that gave me quite a surprise when I opened the spigot for the first time! It shot water at me with a decent force. But that was only when the spigot had the hose and wand attached. All in all it is better than the supplied spigot! If I play with it a bit I bet I will work out the bugs!

Thinking I need to raise the keg up higher to use wand! Some of the problems I have found may just be user error! I am new to brewing so if you all see something that I'm doing wrong! Please correct me!

Is the primary difference between this spigot and the old one the on/off valve? It looks like it has a rubber hose attachment, but what would that be used for?

Yep that is the biggest difference. The on off feature.I assumed it was for attaching tubing.

I just received an extra keg and two of these new spigots I ordered from Mr Beer. I can not stop the new spigot from leaking around the hole in the keg. If I tighten any more, it pops over the thread, so have it as tight as it will go, still leaks. I have the washer in the correct direction, and am sure it is centered. Both spigots leak. I had no problem with my first keg and the old style spigot. Any ideas on stopping the leak?

UPDATE: disregard. I had the washer on the inside. I moved it to the outside and that stopped the leak.

The old style locking spigots had two washers, but the standard spigot and the new locking spigot (which replaces both the locking and standard spigots) only have one.
