hmmm... probably not going to get close enough with just mr. beer ingredients. maybe Mr. Beer's Abbey Dubbel, Dubbel Trouble, Zealous Bock, or some other dark beer from their recipe list. but, if you feel up for steeping some specialty grains, then there's probably some recipes out there that'll get you really close.

No, I did an AG version that came out awesome. Don't believe you will get there strictly with MB ingredients, but maybe a partial mash. You have to use a lager yeast like S23 at ale temps (63-65 degrees) to get the character right. The recipe is here: http://www.mrbeerfans.com/ubbthreads/ubb...html#Post140239, however I have since changed out the black patent with Carafa III and I add carapils to all my recipes for better head retention.

special B is pretty specific...its the deep caramel, sweet, raisiny notes that you get in a dubbel. It would be hard to get those flavors without it
