So we are going to change things up a bit, the last way this was formatted it would barely get a discussion started before becoming dead. First off, the recipe of the month is going to be chosen beforehand, in fact below this post I am going to be setting out a monthly list and you will be able to see which beer style will be shining in which month. Secondly this forum will be set up based around the discussion of that beer style for the month. So if you have a recipe in that style that you really like then please post it and talk about it. To start things off I will create the thread for the month as well as look up some recipes from the beer style and post those to get the ball rolling. I'll try to find some clones of micro brews as well as other peoples takes on the style. Then anyone can come in and comment about what they like about the style, what their experiences have been, and any questions one might have about the style. What I'm really shooting for is a one stop section a person can go to find a ton of information about a certain style, not have to search though page after page of recipe to hopefully find something that somewhat resembles what they are looking for and then have to search more pages about techniques and whatnot. With your help we can create an awesome catalogue of styles, techniques, and recipes easily found by new and old brewers alike! ROTM's are stated Below

It'll be a little bit, I'm going to use a RNG to determine most months styles. It will be posted up soon though.
January will have no ROTM as it's already halfway through the month and my Half Assed self didn't get the info up until now. :P

Plenty of us are brewing them already. Also, will you be using specific styles (like Dark American Lager) or just the broader styles, like Light Lager, Pilsner, Dark Lager, Amber Hybrid beer, etc? I'd kinda like to see the broader styles, since there's already 23 of them. Plus, what about meads and ciders? Will they be forever left out, or are you going to create a table with all the styles, and leave a tiny chance for "other", and then on the "other" table, have meads and ciders? If you get one of the styles that's more just a descriptor that gets applied to another style (fruit beer), do you roll again for base style, or will we all get to choose different base styles?

With the popularity of meads and ciders on this board they will certainly be in the running!
As for the style, I'm still deciding on that which is the main factor of why I don't have styles posted yet.
I was leaning towards more specific, but a broader view could lead to more differing conversations.

How should this work as far as sending testers out for review and comparison? If we don't know about Feb's ROTM until Feb, and THEN come up with our own recipe and brew it (even if all happened on Feb 1), there's no way it's going out in February.
Do we brew Feb's Bitter now, discuss our recipes in the appropriate thread, then revisit that thread in March or April when we have something to ship out?
From the original post it sounds like we will know about the ROTMs enough in advance to actually drink the beers that month, but right now there's only February on the list. I would love to participate, just trying to figure out the timing...
Thanks!

This is what we've been doing. OK, I misunderstood; it sounded like that was changing to let us know ROTMs in advance. I better get on that Best Bitter then! Thanks =)
