Has anyone ever tried this? It was more expensive than the liquid yeast. Thought I'd try it in my batch of witbier. Pitched it last night and it's bubbling away this morning.

I haven't tried it. Did you use the Blanche? Interested to know how it turns out.

Ya it was the Blanche ale yeast, spendy stuff that's for sure!

I'm researching yeasts, and so far the cheapest I've found Brewferm Blanche is at Midwest for $4.50. The description I found is "Ferments clean with little or no sulphur. Top-fermenting strain for Belgian witbier. Spicy and lightly phenolic." If I find it somewhere cheaper than that, I'll let you know :-)

I haven't used it yet, but I can be a little OCD when it comes to research :-P

I didn't find this dry yeast until I was done with/got tired of brewing my yeast trials recipe, so I haven't tried it.

But, Jamil does recommend it as a dry yeast to use in a witbier in BCS. For comparison, he doesn't recommend ANY dry yeast for use in a hefeweizen.

So definitely follow up and let us know how it turns out!

What are your fermentation temps?

Put this in bottles tonight, very pleased with the taste thus far. Kind of like a blue moon/ sunset wheat, not as sweet though. I'll post again when carbed up!

I've made several wit biers, this is by far the best, the yeast is worth the extra buck or two! Must try in my book!
