Hello everyone,
After searching the boards for tweaks on the Raspberry Wheat recipe this is what I've come up with....

1 Can Whispering Wheat Weizenbier HME
1 Can Golden Wheat UME
Safbrew WB-06 Dry Wheat Yeast
1 Can Red Raspberries in Heavy Syrup (puréed and added to Wort)
1 bag of frozen Rasberries (thawed and added 1 week into fermentation)

First... what do you think?
Second... Should I pitch the entire packet of yeast, or half the packet of yeast?
Third.... any suggestions for filtering out the raspberry seeds during bottling? I know if I siphoned off to a bottling tank, it would help resuce this, but any suggestions without doing this?

I thought a about puréing the frozen berries and running them through a sanitized strainer. Will puréed berries ferment as well as whole berries?

Thanks in advance and yes.... this one is for my wife. She was nice enough to buy the Mr Beer kit for me, and is now suffereing through the obsession... so she gets a thank you batch and I want it to be as close to the framboise she loves.

Looks good! Rasberries are a great fruit to add, the flavor really works well and comes through in the final beer.

Use the whole package of yeast.

Definitely puree ALL of the raspberry additions...you might even just want to use two pounds of frozen raspberries (instead ot the one can and one pound frozen), and I wouldn't add the first one until a week into fermentation. After another week, go ahead and add the second pound. Wait at least another week, then bottle!

A way to keep the seeds out of your bottles is to pick up a 2 pack of 5 gallon paint strainers at home depot. Sanitize one, and put it in the fermenting beer, hooked over the top, and pour the pureed raspberries through that. Keep it in place and screw the lid back on over it. This will filter out the seeds and bits of fruit, but still let the yeast get to and ferment the fruit.

Good luck!

Hey Cardinalsfan, I've seen a few others who shared your opinion, but I think I'm still going to give it a shot. I can't know for sure until I try it myself, and if I don't like it... it's a lesson learned. Thanks for responding, I really approcaite all input.

it was actually the velvet velociraptor, not sure if it was exactly the same as what the OP posted.

I don't quite remember what was wrong with it...just an off flavor that never conditioned out. I dumped it a couple months ago.

So sad to hear about that Cardsfan, I was a big fan of my Velvet Velociraptor. No off tastes, just a ton of raspberry seeds...and that was totes my fault. :P
