either that or put it in a muslin or mesh bag. sanitize EVERYTHING - the bag, the strainer, the blender, everything!!

I've never worried about straining or bagging the fruit... Just make sure liquefy the bejeezus out the fruit in a sanitized blender. You don't want any chunks of skin left. It should be a smooth liquid... Otherwise, if you get a skin chunk in the bottle, the yeast will continue to munch on the sugars in the skin and you'll have an overcharged gusher.

Don't strain them, you'll be losing a lot of what the cherries have to offer. Blend the snot out of them in a sanitized blender: be sure you sanitize the blade also. Totally liquify them.

I add fruits a week into fermentation and stir them in with a sanitized spoon, gently. I work quickly once the fermenter is open, being careful not to breathe near it. Then get the lid back on ASAP. That's up to you, but I find it leaves more fruit flavor behind than when you add fruit the same day you pitch the yeast.

The Booster will work, but the UME will work better!

Watch the size of can you get, if you buy outside of Mr Beer the can/jar is usually larger so you'll only need to use a pound.
