Sythreil Brewsmith Active Member Registered: 01/14/12 Posts: 51 Loc: Chattanooga, TN	Just wondering if anybody has done a no sparge BIAB for the 2.14 gallon size Mr. Beer fermenter? I'm wondering how much water to boil. Looking to do my first BIAB and wanna get it as close to right as possible to help things go smoothly. Brewmeister Registered: 01/01/10 Posts: 7002 Loc: St. Louis, MO	work backwards... you want about 2.5 gallons of wort when all is said and done (so you can use that other .4ish gallons to contain the hop/break material), so you should have about 3.5 gallons at preboil. so, you'll need to calculate the grain absorption factor... it's easy... cardinalsfan Dinosaur Basement Brewing Ultimate Mr. Beer Fan Registered: 03/15/11 Posts: 3008 Loc: OKC	on my system for my last recipe, I started with 4 gal of water and had 2.25 into the fermenter, using all the wort in the kettle. 6.6 # of grain on that recipe. natural320 ~~BOTM~~ Ultimate Mr. Beer Fan Registered: 09/25/09 Posts: 2295 Loc: Warminster, PA	Yep! 4.25 gallons will work out smashing ;-) I have been using this method for quite some time, and it works out perfectly for the type of grain bill you are using.. I have used 2 quarts of water to one pound of grain and come out around 4.33 gallons pre-boil. _________________________ Paddle Faster....I Hear Banjo Music !!! Other ingredients can help, but for a fuller-bodied beer, you want to mash at a higher temperature.
