At the suggestion of some of you on this forum, and a little addition myself, this is what I brewed up the other day.

1 can whispering wheat HME
1 lb Briess wheat DME
1 package Safbrew WB-06
1/3 oz. Saaz hops

The hops were put in a sack into the fermenter before I closed it up. I know I can boil them earlier and whatnot, I just tried it this way this time.

I'll keep you posted on how this turns out.

What do you think, three weeks in the fermenter?

recipe looks good! good start!

two weeks'll probably be good, depending at temp the beer is fermenting. if ambient is cool, like around 62&degF (or below), it might take three weeks... yeast works slower at cooler temps.

Depending on your temps, 2 weeks in the fermentor will probably be plenty of time, but three weeks won't hurt anything.

I have the ambient temp around 69-70 degrees F. So 2 weeks ought to do the trick?

Thanks.

If you can cool ambient down by 3-5°, I'd suggest doing so. But yeah, two weeks should be plenty at those temps.

meh, i think OP's ambient is ok for a wheat beer... but, yeah, two weeks should be ok. if it tastes like flat beer after two weeks, you're good to go.

The recipe looks fine but I don't think you'll get much from the added hops if you just tossed them in the keg at room temperature. Mr Beer suggests adding them at flameout. I probably would have boiled them for twenty minutes with the DME and some water before adding the WW at flameout.

Probably what I should have done. I stirred them a bit before dropping the sack and the wort to the fermenter. I'll find out how it worked in a few weeks.

It might add a few IBU's and a touch of flavor. All part of the learning process.
