Quote:
Two people were injured Saturday when a container of beer exploded at the Franconia Brewing Company in McKinney.

People were touring the microbrewery around noon when a kettle of beer exploded and the canister ripped through a wall. McKinney Fire Department spokeswoman Stacie Durham said paramedics took one victim by ambulance to Medical Center McKinney and another was flown to Medical Center Plano.

Durham said she didn't know their conditions.

Winston Edwards, who was touring the brewery, said he saw paramedics remove two Franconia employees with cuts. About 100 people were also taking tours but none were injured, he said.

Franconia, which is located at 495 McKinney Pkwy in McKinney, makes German-style beers.

The explosion also garnered reaction on Twitter from people who were at the brewery.

my buddy (the best man at wedding, actually) was taking the tour while this happened... he posted on his facebook about it, said a couple of brewery workers were injured. luckily, they had just finished touring the fermenter room and the group was on the other side of the brewery in the chiller room. unbelievable.

might have been that, dane, that was my first thought, too but i'm not sure... i thought my buddy said they cracked some sort of gas valve or something, and they were repairing it. but, i don't know for certain.
