My son was just telling me how popular Hopslam is and how quick it disappears(?) FROM THE SPECIALTY GROCERY STORE WHERE HE WORKS. Fat fingers. Anyway it's really expensive, seasonal and I just don't get it. You get to the point where there are so many IBU's your tongue gets numbed.

Lucy, you got some splainin to do!

Hopslam is not bitter at all...so the IBu's are probably only around 60-70(or at least that is how it tastes)...but there is tons of hop flavor...it's kinda like eating a hop candy...lol I did not notice much hop aroma this year though? maybe they were trying to cut back since the hops are scarce...

lets not judge unless you have tried it? wink

I had a Hopslam fix last night at my local watering hole since a high school friend and her husband were the featured musical duo.
I will be going back today for Hopfest to have another plus savor and sample a couple of fresh firkins of the hoppiest.

Ran across this item the other day
http://www.cnbc.com/id/46327587/?slide=11
CNBC lists Hopslam as one of the 15 best beers in the world. I've got a friend in Kalamazoo and I'm trying to get him come out for a visit... and as long as he's coming, he might as well bring some Hopslam with him.

How come almost ALL of those "15 best beers in the world" are Imperial Stouts? Seems kind of byass. What criteria did they use? ABV might be it. Imperial Stouts, Double/triple IPA, Quadruple...jeeze I doubt any of those beers would make my list.

NOt sure what the criteria was, but I was kind of surprised at the number of imperail stouts as well.... not that I mind it's one of my favorite styles... but iven the wide variety of beers out there you'd think there would be a little more variety.
