Go with the 3 week carb rule for 1L pet's..Thats what I did for my octfest. second brew and they were rock hard compared to my wcpa..My wcpa tasted like apple cider after the 222 rule..go with the premium refills next time or add some UME.

I found that 3 weeks was better as well when I first started brewing. Now I find it a good excuse to try a bottle after 2 weeks carb and I decide from there if it needs more carbonation or not.

Having the same problem with WCPA first brew. Cold in my basement where I'm fermenting and conditioning (about 64 degrees) so went 3/3/1. I know a bit early on the one, but figured the 3 and the 3 would have taken care of that. Bottle primed with 1 1/2 tsp for 1/2 liter PET's. Flavor is OK, but just flat beer.

Batch primed the second brew of Bewitched Red and conditioning in the bedroom closet (the wife is loving that part...). 2 days and bottles are more firm than the WCPA.

Should I move the WCPA to warmer climates? Or just suck down the flat and try again?

you can try moving the WCPA to a warmer area to resume carbonation. 64 degrees will work, but might take a while.

also, while 3/3/1 is good, nothing will take the place of conditioning. not additional carbing or fermentation time. 3/3/2 would have been better. the carb needs time in the fridge to absorb into solution so you don't lose it all the second you open it.

I do all my stuff down in the basement as well, and it can be a bit cold down there. I ended up putting a space heater down there to help with the temperature.
I guess the good thing about living in military housing for me is I don't have to worry about paying the electric bill...cause I am pretty sure mine would be excessive. smile

Well I did what you guys suggested and took them back out of the fridge for a week! I put this one in the fridge yesterday and it came out much better. Not sweet at all and more carbonation. The beer itself wasn't anything amazing, but drinkable. Ill probably leave the rest of the bottles out for another few days before moving them all to the fridge... although I already have my Whispering Wheat in motion!

Congrats. Glad everything improved. Drinkable is great for a first beer. That gives you something to build on. Now you can start crafting beers that match the flavors that you enjoy.
