as a "bad" 2 tap kegerator owner...I had not cleaned the draft lines since I built the thing. I went from one keg to the next on both taps (excited more than lazy actually), so I figured it was time to do at least a quick cleaning.

filled a now empty keg halfway with PBW, pressurized and ran 2 liters through each line, then let some sit for 25 minutes before running the rest of the PBW through. it was amazing the crud that got flushed out! so if you are "bad" like me...it is definitely worth the little bit of effort to at least do something like this periodically.

oh, to finish I ran about a gallon or so of fresh water through each line to rinse out the PBW...they looked all nice and clean, and I can only assume the next 2 beers will thank me wink

Thats a good idea to keep them clean and free from build up.
Normally when I kick a keg I will rinse the keg out good and put
some star san in it. Then flush out the line with about a quart
of that and re-connect with the new keg. Works great and I
feel better about it anyway.

I've been doing the quick swap thing the past couple of kegs. I should probably clean things out next time I finish a keg.

Give the line cleaning products a try. They can really get the crud out. In between each keg I clean with BLC but every couple kegs I do BLC followed by ALC acid post wash to really get the tough stuff.

This is me exactly. I used to Oxyclean each keg prior to filling, but lately have been known to rinse, Star San, and fill. My lines have had several Star San flushes, but a good scrubbing is in order.

certainly a highly recommended process! I wanna say that I either heard or read that Five Star simply re-branded PBW as BLC for packaging/sales purposes. could be wrong though.

~head down~ noooo...

if it was finished, I'd post pics wink I had a custom cabinet maker (kind of a friend, but you'll see in a moment) lined up to make a wooden bar rail to wrap all around it. all he was going to charge me for was the wood if he got some beer and lunch for the work...

that was about a month ago, and ummm, haven't seen or heard back from the guy. (hopefully he is busy with "paying" jobs) I am THIIIIS close dangit! but he is on my baseball team, so I can hound him once a week for the next few months wink

Yup, me too.

I'll make sure I do this before I hook my next keg up to the taps...and I've got 3 kegs I need to clean and fill, so I should take a minute and clean the lines while I'm at it.

I'll have to look at the bottles again for the ingredients. I do remember that ALC's active ingredient is hydrochloric acid (muratic acid) and they mention having corrosion protectors.

I did this yesterday...ran PBW through both my taps, let it sit, then purged with starsan. Surprisingly, not a lot of gunk came out.

But it certainly did get some out!
