If anyone does modify there keg and by chance screws it up don't throw it away you can use an epoxy putty to repair the keg. My brother gave me his old mr. beer keg because the plastic below the spigot broke(he's not real gentle) had it fixed in a couple of hours and a few cleaning and rinses

I was wondering how these spigots are working for those of you that have made the conversion. I really like the idea. I am thinking about doing it to my 4 fermenters. I do indeed brew a lot. And making the modification would be a real blessing on bottling day. I may have missed mention of a rubber washer for a seal. You do have 1” rubber washer to put on it. Drilling that hope would be breeze. Just would have to get the parts. Anything that makes all of this much easier is just fine with me.
Fermenter #1- Belgian Wit using Wyeast 3068. Fermenter #2- Hefeweizen using Hefeweizen Yeast from Mr. Beer, this is the Wyeast 3068. Fermenter #3- Black Tower Porter using Safale K-97 Dry Yeast Fermenter #4- Strong Arm Porter using Wyeast 1084 Bottled/Carbonating- None Conditioning- None Drinking- Honey Nut Brown Ale, Dry Stout Ale, Old Uncle Arnold, Pardi Gras, Honey Blonde Ale (with Saaz Hops), Honey Blonde Ale (with Tettnager Hops), Hefeweizen. German Hefeweizen, Bavarian Dark Wheat, Oatmeal Stout, and Classic Blonde Ale (this is for my Dad).

Paul...the one I got from my LHBS had two washers (one for each side). I have done 6 batches with this mod and it makes bottling day much easier. JMHO

I've done a transfer to a secondary (2nd keg) and a bottling with 2 modified kegs. Everything went well and the beer turned out great.
I would recommend a hose clamp to be used around the hose and spigot. I sprung a leak and mentioned it in a different thread.
I would also recommend that there are no rough edges where the rubber washer contacts the keg. I had to make sure it was nice and clean in order to stop minor leak. I did my modification a little more crudely, using a razor blade and rasp, but she works.

Today I converted all 4 of my Fermenters. I plan to use them next week. At this point they look very promising. I am not sure who came up with this conversion, yet I sure would like to say thank you. You all know what a pain in the butt it has been to have to keep the spigot depressed while you are filling your bottles. I have days that I can bottle 2 or 3 cases back to back. All I need now is a bottling wand, and a short piece of siphon hose. I can get all of that at my Brew Store.
Fermenter #1- Empty Fermenter #2- Empty Fermenter #3- Empty Fermenter #4- Empty Bottled/Carbonating- Foreign Extra Stout Conditioning- Witbier, Hefeweizen, Bohemian Pilsner. Drinking- Belgian Wit , Hefeweizen, Black Tower Porter, and Strong Arm Porter, Honey Nut Brown Ale, Dry Stout Ale, Old Uncle Arnold, Pardi Gras, Honey Blonde Ale (with Saaz Hops), Honey Blonde Ale (with Tettnager Hops), Hefeweizen. German Hefeweizen, Bavarian Dark Wheat, Oatmeal Stout, and Classic Blonde Ale (this is for my Dad).

Here's the spigot I used:
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=41&product%5Fid=16264 Did your valve come with a nut? I ordered four valves but none came with plastic nuts.
