I use notty for everything as I am getting started, it is excellent for the winter months. I mean if something is a great yeast why not use it.

Right Herb. I just use the plastic tube that came with the hydrometer and it uses about 3 ounces. I thought I might need to tape it at the end where the plastic cap is for a good seal but it's not needed. I will say, however, that after repeated use

The drawback to blue moon is that it comes in twist-offs...can't really reuse those as a home brewer. But if you like blue moon, try the witty monk premium refill.

My French-made hydrometer came from AHS. Its counter-weight is out-of-balance such that the tip often rests against the side of the cylinder making it a PITA to read. It came packaged in thin plastic tubing closed at both ends with foam-padded reus

agreed. a nice amber ale, high in caramel malt, with cascased for bittering, cascade for flavor, and cascade/cluster for aroma will be quite nice... very similar to yuengling lager, actually.

I think you'll like regular Sam Adams better... the after taste shouldn't be as pronounced. It's a smoother and very well balanced beer. Yes, Dud Light Lime is a refreshing, sweeter, citrusy beer. That's a good one to try, too. Also, you can find

I've found cluster hops to play well with cascades, and make excellent bittering hops for American Wheats.

you have to be careful though...some of the tubes they come in split down the middle so they are useless for testing wort...I know the one from Northern brewer you can use the tube and don't need to buy one..

For some reason I'm getting really excited about brewing. The summer heat is breaking so I won't be sweating like an animal while brewing and with the cooler temps comes the chance for me to order liquid yeasts (and have them survive alive). It's j

My experience exactly with the Great Lakes. Old Smuttynose is a pain to get off too. Soaked for hours in Oxiclean, scrubbed like crazy, and a half hour after I started I had a clean six pack. Blah.

I think all hydrometers ship in a tube for protection so you really don't need to buy a separate tube though the ones that come with the hydrometer don't like to stand on their own. You might want to buy two. They break easily. When you get it don
