Winner. I don't remember if I mentioned this in the regular thread, and I'm too lazy to scroll back and look (jeez, that's bad), but the person who asks the question is the one who declares the winner. The declared winner then asks his question. Honor code still applies. Go for it BNB . . .

Lol, reminds me of the bar name in Beerfest. Schnitzengiggles or something like that. Making fun of German sounds is classic. Even though my first ancestors to set foot on American ground were German. I guess that gives me a free pass.

Jeez, thread already dead. Perhaps there is a positive side to this. Maybe the board has too much honor. Folks knew they couldn't resist the power of Google and Wikipedia and decided to abstain. BNB won't even continue with his trivia question.

Wow you all I was all pumped up to blitz this game, and what, no more questions?

After that first question, you got me pretty excited, as my report for German 203 will be on the Reinheitsgebot, showing that it was really a power grab against the Catholic Church, to take away their throttlehold on the gruit market and replace it with the Protestant's own control on fermented beverages.

At least that's my plan. "Rein": Pure; "Reinheits" is purity, and gebot is law or regulation.

ACC, I'm sometimes short on that dimension too, but how can we play when there is no new question?

Ok, I have been charged with creating the question here now that I answered the first one.

Here goes (remember no Google, wikipedia, etc):

How did the beer "Märzen" get its name?
